Beauty Benefits Of Baking Soda

With expensive beauty products thronging the market, we often find ourselves puzzled. To put an end to your confusion we introduce you to the most underused and inexpensive product found in your kitchen- baking soda. Get ready and acquaint yourself with the many ways you can use it in your beauty regime for quick fixes.

Baking soda, the major ingredient in baking the cake has several beauty benefits. Baking soda works as a skin exfoliator and removes the dead skin, it gives a bright looking skin and aids to even out the skin tone.

Exfoliator

The many uses for baking soda for skin care also include using it as an exfoliator. Some people find that plain baking soda on its own is grainy enough to be a gentle scrub. You can also add a teaspoon to your cleanser or add a tablespoon each of baking soda and water along with 2 teaspoons of oat flour to get a deeper cleaning.

Brighter Complexion

For those looking for a brighter and cleaner complexion, then baking soda comes to their rescue too. Take a bowl, and prepare a paste using baking soda, lemon juice and a few drops of olive oil. Apply this paste on clean face and wash it off after 10 minutes to reveal a radiant and fairer you.

Acne mask

If you have acne, try using baking soda for skin care in the form of an acne mask. After washing your face, mix a few drops of baking soda with warm water until you have a paste and apply it all over your face. Leave it on for about 5-10 minutes and rinse off with warm water. Baking soda will not only clean and smooth your skin, as we found from the previous recipes, but it also helps remove blackheads!

Detox baths

We’ve been talking about how to use baking soda for skin but it also makes for a fabulous detoxing bath! Detox baths can help your body to eliminate toxins and your skin will love the nourishing minerals from the ingredients! Be sure you try this in the evening because you’ll likely feel tired. You might even feel weak or flu-ish from detoxing, so make sure you stay hydrated! Add 1-2 cups of baking soda and 2 cups of Epsom salts while you draw your bath and sit in it for about 30 minutes.

Sunburns

A great way to use baking soda for your skin is to use it to treat sunburns. Make a cool compress by soaking a clean cloth soaked in a mix of baking soda and water or make a bath by adding ½ cup baking soda to a lukewarm bath to relieve burning, irritating and itchy skin. It's a great substitute when you don't have any Aloe on hand.
