Natural Home Remedies for Skin Whitening

The craze for skin lightening with the hundreds of creams and cosmetics being marketed to specifically lighten the skin, are testimony to the fact that the greater percentage of women in our country dream of acquiring a fairer skin tone.  It may get darken due to tanning resulting from exposure to sun rays. In fact, your skin color adapts to intense sunlight irradiation so that you get protection against the ultraviolet rays that can damage your skin. There can be many other causes for dark skin other than heredity and overexposure to sun.

Apply a lemon juice solution

Lemon juice has been used for thousands of years as a natural skin lightener. It contains acids that lightly bleach the skin and exfoliate the top layer of darker skin cells. Since pure lemon juice can be irritating to skin, make a lemon juice solution by mixing one part lemon juice to one part water. Take a cotton ball and spread the solution on your skin.

Almond Pack

Take a handful of soaked almonds. Peel them and grind them to make a fine paste. Mix this paste with raw milk and apply on face and neck. Let it air dry and then wash off with plain water. This is a very effective herbal remedy for skin whitening. Regular use will bring desired results fast.

Rice Flour Scrub

Regular scrubbing ensures removal of dead cells which accumulate on the skin over a period of time and lend it a dull and sallow look.  Grind some rice to fine powder and mix in milk cream or curd as per your skin type. Use this as a scrub all over your body once in a week and fall in love with your skin. Make sure to finely grind the powder. Coarse powder will not make a smooth scrub and will fall off your skin quickly, making it messy and ineffective.

Papaya

Its sweetness and rich flavor itself makes it hard to resist. But here is more, it actually whitens your skin. Eating papaya daily can give you a lighter complexion and add some glow to your skin. You can also make a mask out of it. Crush two slices of papaya and add in some lemon juice. Spread evenly onto your face and wait for 20 minutes before washing it off.

Make a yogurt honey mask

Like milk, yogurt contains enzymes that can gently lighten skin. Honey has moisturizing and antibacterial properties. Together, the two ingredients make a nourishing mask. Mix one part honey and one part yogurt, then spread the mixture on your face and body. Allow it to sit for 15 minutes, then rinse it away with warm water.

Exfoliate your skin

The buildup of dead skin cells on the surface of your skin can make the skin appear a little dull. To brighten your skin, it’s important to exfoliate regularly. One excellent way to exfoliate the skin is to use a body scrub composed of sugar or salt. In the bath or shower, wet your skin and rub the scrub in a gentle circular motion over your entire body. In this way you can “polish” your skin until it has a healthy gleam.
